A driving instructor course consultant
The police have arrested a young man suspected of stealing over ?5000 from people interested in courses offered by a local driving school. The 30-year-old man was an employee of the school. He was responsible for visiting potential students at their homes and providing information on available courses. Several days ago, five people informed the police that a young man, who claimed to be a driving school consultant, had just visited their houses and conned large amounts of money out of them. The people actually believed they were paying for a driving instructor course, but were later informed by the schools secretary that the consultant was ill and couldnt visit them. That day, the consultant indeed called the office and informed the secretary that he was ill and therefore couldnt make the previously arranged visits. But in fact, he later visited five clients, made them pay for the driving instructor courses they were interested in, and then disappeared with the money. Fortunately, it was possible to create an identikit of the man. He was caught the day before yesterday as he was trying to get into a plane and leave for South Africa. The man is now being interviewed by the police. He says he needed money to buy a new car for his fiance. Now, he can be sentenced to up to six years in prison.
